Prof. Charles Gretton

Associate Professor, ANU School of Computing

Associate Professor Charles Gretton holds degrees in Engineering and Computer Science. He is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) expert with 20 years of experience in academic research and research commercialisation. He serves as the Director of Attention and Innovation at the Integrated AI Network, Australian National University.

A/Prof. Gretton's expertise spans Machine Learning and Automated Planning. He has successfully applied his AI expertise in a wide range of fields, including continental-scale retail business optimisation, agent-based market simulation, computer security, astronomical instrumentation, and mobile robot control. Since late 2017, he has led the development of "Dagster", an open-source high-performance computing (HPC) Boolean Satisfiability (SAT) solving tool designed to scale logical inference using HPC environments.

His vision is to develop AI that extends and augments human capability. This is achieved through the study and development of AI that reasons about change in the world and how to expand knowledge and understanding.
